formerly Beacon Carmel

It is time to act, and in Lent, to act also means to pause. To pause in prayer, in order to receive the word of God, to pause like the Samaritan in the presence of a wounded brother or sister. Love of God and love of neighbor are one love.
Slow down, then, and pause! The contemplative dimension of life that Lent helps us to rediscover will release new energies. In the presence of God, we become brothers and sisters, more sensitive to one another: in place of threats and enemies, we discover companions and fellow travelers.

We are a community of Discalced Carmelite Nuns. The essence of Carmelite life is a call to deep friendship with Christ, serving the Church through a life of prayer and self-giving. As women of prayer we seek God in silence and solitude as well as in the joys and sorrows of everyday life. Our desire for God leads us along the path of personal transformation whereby we hope to advance the healing and transformation of our world. As we pray for the needs of all people and respond to God’s call to live Carmelite life in new settings and circumstances, we look to the future with hope, faith, and trust in God’s ever-present love.
